This glamorized TV movie is the love child of director Richard Laxton, who cleverly used a poignant part of life and relationship between Liz Taylor and Richard Burton to highlight their turbulent relationship and striking personalities.

Set in 1983, the film revolves around Burton and Taylor as they attempt to join forces to star in Noel Coward’s stage play “Private Lives”. After years of marriage, their own addictive personalities and the pressures from the press, they begin to lose their stubborn protective barriers and find some kind of path to recovery together.

The Perfect Getaway (2009)

There’s a lot to like about this thrilling mystery and there’s a lot to appreciate about a psycho thriller which delivers some really cool (hard to kill) characters set on the beautiful islands of Honolulu. Two couples are travelling and enjoying the Eden-like surroundings, fully aware that there are a pair of serial killers on the loose, each couple are highly suspicious of the other but it’s up to the audience to look for the subtle clues and piece together who just might be a pair of deadly psychopaths.

The Missing Sun (2017)

Starring. Gera Pobuda, Sally Wingert, Peter McLarnan, Lawrence Sutin. USA. 1h 19m.

The journey is sometimes more interesting than the destination, and in this curious black and white drama, the journey is both beautiful and at times deeply bizarre. Looking back on the movie a dark and scary experience is definitely portrayed as something pure and wonderful, much like how Death can be seen as a goodbye or indeed as a celebration of life.

Alma wakes up one fateful morning to find her husband comatosed in the sunroom, a beer bottle and glass by his bed, but he’s not responding to her calls, all the electrical items have shorted, and she assumes they have been hit by another solar flare.

Movie Addicts

I found a post on Simon Says Movie Reviews it details the 20 symptoms to look for if you think you or a friend is a movie addict!? It’s probably a good idea if I start here to see if I’ve given my blog the right name.. lets see if I’m addicted?

So I thought I’d give it a go.. see what I score.

1. YOU LOVE MOVIE LISTS 
I love lists and I love movies so putting the two together seems only natural for me. I adore looking at other movie lists and now with the power of this blog I shall be writing my own versions! I think everyone should do something similar, obviously everyone who is into movies, there is not right or wrong and it’s great to see someone elses point of view on the movies they have seen.

2. YOU LET YOUR TRUE EMOTIONS OUT
If movies didn’t affect me some way, be it positive or negative I wouldn’t watch them. What’s the point of spending an couple of hours watching something and then your just done with it!? Really someone spent a lot of talent and money to tell a story, appreciate it, live it, learn from it. I want my horror movies to scare me, I want to fall in love and be a million different people though movies.

 

 

 

 

 

3. YOU HAVE MOVIES STILL IN THE WRAPPING
Oh yes! Some are movies like Gremlins which I have seen a thousand times and it comes on TV quite a lot so it doesn’t  need to be opened (also it scares me) Other movies are just literally on the to watch pile, sometimes I do like to read the book first, other times they are remakes that people have brought for me. It seems if I say I haven’t watched something that means that I want to but haven’t got around to it yet and I love it when people buy me movies (hint hint)

 

 

 

 

 

4. YOU CAN SPOUT OFF YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES ON A WHIM
Mostly.. I will post a list in a short while…

5. YOU HAVE SEEN AT LEAST ONE MOVIE NOBODY ELSE HAS HEARD OF
I’d like to think so, usually movies such as Skinned Deep or In the Aftermath Angles Never Sleep do it, depending on where the person is from I could probably name a “foreign” movie that they have little information about like Den Brysomme Mannen (yeah and I’d do it in the original language for extra brownie points)  otherwise it’s just an old underground movie that was banned and forgotten about.

I’ve never downloaded a movie..

7. YOU ALWAYS FINISH A MOVIE YOU START; no matter how long, horrendous or boring.
Yes I will always finish a movie, I think it’s only good manners to see the whole story.

8. YOUR LIFE IS A MOVIE
I talk movies all the time, I’ll remember a movie quote before a song lyric. At work I often draw movie scenes on post it notes with quote, I put them in birthday cards..

9. YOU HAVE A WAD OF MOVIE STUBS AS THICK AS A PHONE BOOK
I don’t go to the cinema as often as a lot of other movie lovers, I would like to go more but the price is astoundingly high at the moment, I’m REALLY picky about going to the cinema as well, I only like them when they are empty. But I also don’t often keep the stubs but if I did I’d probably have quite a few. On the other hand if Blockbusters were to print off my DVD rental list, we’d loose a few trees.

10. YOU CAN STAND IN A MOVIE STORE FOR HOURS
I try not stay too long otherwise I end up trying to help people find the right movie or I’ll start to correct them when they are trying to work out who acted in what. Another factor to this is that I don’t need to stay there too long it’s not hard to pick out the few movies I’ve not seen yet.

11. YOU’RE A MOVIE FILTER
If I know someone I can work out what they should watch or rent next,I do often get asked for advice on what to watch or rent.

12. MOVIE POSTERS ARE YOUR WALLPAPER
*looks around* There are quite a few up along with lots of other art work.. I’m not doing to well here am i?

13. YOU HAVE AN OVERFLOW DVD RACK
I make furniture out of DVD covers.

14. YOU NEVER FEEL LAME WATCHING MOVIES ALONE
I usually have to go on my own, movies are my friends LOL.

15. YOU HAVE SEEN A MOVIE AT LEAST 10 TIMES
I’ve seen Lord of the Rings around 600 times and Robocop hit over 110 views and I’ve only had gomiso for two years now. American Romantic Comedies.. Actually I try to avoid Comedies, I also try to avoid Romance movies and if I had a choice between a Mongolian black and white short or top blockbuster American rip of schite.. I’m watching the short..

17. YOU LOVE MOVIE TRAILERS
Not when I’m trying to watch a movie but yes I look them up online all the time.

18. YOU LOVE SILENT, FOREIGN AND BLACK AND WHITE FILMS JUST AS MUCH AS ANY OTHER
HELL YEAH! I love all movies … kinda.. american rom coms don’t do it for me.

19. YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BAD MOVIE AND A ‘BAD’ MOVIE AND A BAD MOVIE AND A MOVIE YOU DIDN’T LIKE
I do need to enlarge my vocab but it’s hard to express a bad movie that you like compared to a bad movie that you don’t like and a bad movie that needs to be seen etc..
