Last nights movies 07.11.2016

I totally aced my movie record last night, I got home from work early as I was feeling unwell and stayed up late feeling equally unwell and managed to fit in a ridiculous amount of movies…

m-imperiumI started the evening with Imperium (2016) – I had little faith in Daniel Radcliffe being a skinhead but as an undercover cop kinda skin he seemed a little more plausible. But there was this nagging feeling that he was out of place, a lot of people has issues with Tom Hanks  being a gangster in Road to Perdition (2002) but I had no problem with that but this… just didn’t gel right. Still it tells an interesting if predictable story, but it tells it well. Without being over dramatic and focusing in on being purely offensive for vulgarity’s sake.Undercover work never seemed to basic. Still it’s another film to portray racists as the ridiculous eejits that they really are, and couldn’t have come at a better time.. For now it’s sit comfortable at 6/10 but I’m still forming a formal opinion on it. Continue reading Last nights movies 07.11.2016

La Weekend July 3

I’m BACK!

I have been away from this for so long, But never fear I’ve still been watching a silly amount of movies and for some reason Full Metal Jousting!!

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do so here it goes!

La Weekend July 3

  • THE EAGLE
  • EYE OF THE BEAST
  • ZEITGEIST : MOVING FORWARDS
  • PREDATOR
  • WASTELAND
  • PARADISE LOST 3
  • ATTACK THE BLOCK
  • REC 2

The Eagle – I remember this coming out at the same time as a lot of other Romanesque movies, but apparently this one was WAY better, needless to say I saw it last and it was basically identical to Centurion.. but with more homo action. Don’t get me wrong I’ve got nothing against gay peeps at all.. but I was hoping for Billy Elliot to make out is all.. Humm.. a bit boring really..

Eye of the beast – Some schit happened I suppose.. A schithole of a port is attacked by a Kracken style sea monster.. Kinda like Jaws with tentacles.. but not as dynamic as Sharkopus.. or great acting, or a great story or a great anything.. next please.

Zeitgeist : moving Forwards – FCUK ME! You know those movies that change your perception on life..well this is one of those! It’s a Documovie but makes so much sense.. It’s long but I do recommend that everyone watches this and check out the website – http://www.zeitgeistmovingforward.com/

Zeitgeist moving forward.png

Predator – I needed a bit of comfort and for Billy to get me out of this HOLE billy! I will wank over this movie at a later date as I’m sure everyone has seen it.

Wasteland – This movie stated out with a lot of promise, gritty brit flick, lots of familiar faces, great acting, but what a fag ending.. I love a good twist at the end or a great reveal like Unusual suspects (1995), but this twists and turns like a muvafcker and after the third one I just didn’t care anymore and it ruined it for me.

Paradise Lost 3 – I couldn’t find the second instalment but as it’s all based on real events I don’t feel that I’ve missed anything seeing the pre jail and freedom story. Still a VERY good film and told in the best way possible.

Attack the Block – I have been meaning to see this for some time, I was a bit reluctant to watch due to the comedy roots of the director but it was bearable.. The effects were amazing and the tension of the chase spot on.

Rec 2 – I watched this with my mummy so I could ensure my safety and that I could have someone to mop up my pee.. this still scares my pants off (lights on tonight). Amazing Spanish zombie/possession movie. I do adore that the take on the zombies were enforced as being demonic possession in this series.

NEWS UPDATE

I am working on a few other things, I’ve grouped together the books and podcast details under the links page and I’m slowly adding countries and years to the blog to help people search for stuff.. it’s a thankless task but it will be worth it I’m sure.

I would add in all the links now but it will keep leading to error 404 pages I’m sure so I’ll add them as I add content.

I am working on 20 for 1920’s post at the moment which I thought would be easy but sadly it’s hard to narrow the films down to only 20!! But that will hopefully add to a few blanks to the early years. In the meantime check these out

Le weekend..

Le weekend Sat 25th, Sun 26th and Mon 27th of May 2013.

It was a bank holiday weekend but I seem to have watched fewer movies than a normal weekend!? I’m not sure how I managed that but I guess I did. This is the list of films, reviews to come!

DREAMSCAPE (1984)  – An old favourite of mine from the 80’s I used to get all freaked out and had to watch this with my mum! 7/10

HERO (2002) – Old school classic, I watched this with my ma to start the weekend rolling! 8/10

*ABBY (1974) – I dunno how I’ve missed this movies all these years, a little comical due to the age of it but actually quite a cool possession movie. 6/10

*CELDA 211 (2009) – WOAH! I adore European and South American prision movies, this is getting remade but I’d recommend that everyone watch the original before it gets watered down (which I predict will happen). 9/10

*EVIL DEAD (2013)– I don’t wanna talk about how s1ht this movie is. 1/10

MANS BEST FRIEND  (1993) – A blast from the past, this could have bee like the thing if the comedy was taken out and if the director REALLY wanted to scare some people. 4/10.

*DIAMOND DOGS (2007)  – No dolph.. just no..

THE CROW (1994) – Should be in my GOAT list, definitely one of the films that helped me define myself as a teen. I remember when goths used to aim to kick some A$$. 10/10

RED HILL (2010) – I picked this up last year or so ago thinking it was going to be a western even though it plays out like one it’s such an awesome ozzy movie. 8/10

*SKYFALL (2012) – Finally a James Bond movie that I actually like! It’s not uber superb but yay! 8/10

*THE BUNKER  (2001) – Meh.. it plays like a rehash of Deathwatch. 4/10

*LEVIANTHAN (1989) – This is like every underwater adventure mixed up including Jaws.. still quite good for the effects and superb one liners. 6/10

*LES 7 JOURS DE TALION (2010) – I love this.. totally love it, the feeling, cinematography, storyline and raw emotions are all prefect! 9/10

*STATIC (2012)– Started out as a bit of a remake of Ils – Them (2006) but then soon twisted into one of the best plots I’ve seen from Holywood for some time. 8/10

*THE KOVAK BOX (2006) – I think this movie was trying to make a drama out of a molehill, or a mystery out of a simple story, I dunno.. I tried to like it but it just tripped and failed after the first hour. 5/10

*ANTROPOPHAGUS (1980) – WHOO! I love Italian horror especially with lot of baby and intestine eating! 7/10

*HAPPINESS – I only made it half way though this movie but I was thoroughly enjoying it before I had to go to work L

* denotes a first viewing!

It was a fairly good bank holiday weekend, there were some highs..

  • Dreamscapes
  • The Crow
  • Celda 211
  • Les 7 Jours de talion
  • Skyfall
  • Static

And some lows

  • Diamond Dogs
  • Evil Smeg..

I’m actually a little worried about the amount of USA movies I’ve been watching lately!  I’ll loose my street cred soon.

PREDICTIONS : rec4

I was hoping to get this sorted before any details were released but it seems that this is going to run and run.. I don’t mind rec being turned into a long running franchise but I’d like for all the movies to be really good because the idea of religious zombies is just brilliant to me, The first two movies really did scare and entertain me.

Rec 4

So far the fourth movie has the subtitle of Apocallipsis. (Apocalypse).

After the abysmal third movie that was totally unrelated, none liner and quite boring, it’s going to take a lot to get this franchise back on track.  I liked the bold attempt to try and write in a what would happen if all hell breaks loose at [insert public event here] but as this film literally had knights in shining armour I think they failed at trying to save the world. I am hoping that it’s going back to the claustrophobic fright fest that we’re all accustomed to.  Yes I’m still bitter about the Genesis (2012).

All I know is that the main girl from the first two movies will be in this one, so…

My predictions.. I think this film will go back to the original plot line so it will carry on from Rec 2 (2009)

Plan A :

Anna (Manuela Velasco ) will attempt the leave the building, like the couple in Genesis, get shot and her blood will infect the crowd waiting outside the building and the apocalypse will commence..

Plan B :

Anna will be captured by science priests in hazmat suits and taken into quarantine this could take on two forms, it could become a possession movie where the demon/zombie virus in Anna will talk the hell out of everyone or she will escape and release the virus!? Or finally it will be killed off?!?!

Plan C :

Well lets say I’m doing this with a logically mind but really they might just do any fekking thing.. I dunno Anna might give birth to the anti Christ then take it on the Maury show for a free DNA test.

THE BOYKA CONNECTION

I have to thank my friend “The Bear” for lending me Undisputed II (2006), what an amazing movie it is! It soon prompted me to watch Undisputed (2002) which was a load of dry ole balls.. No matter it happens sometimes, although if I had watched Undisputed (2002) first then I probably would have avoided the second movie… *shudders* Imagine that a world without Boyka! NOOOOO!!! So eventually I managed to find the most up to date movie, Undisputed III (2010) and DING DONG! It was bloody astounding, and that was all down to our boy behind bars.. Yuri Boyka! What a champion! BOYKA BOYKA! BOYKA BOYKA!

image

I know I’m not the only one who finds they are perched on the sofa chanting BOYKA BOYKA! Through out the fight scenes and I’m certainly not the only one who gets all excited when he tells yanks to “shut the hell up” or “you need to shut your f*cking mouth” and I could watch him beating seven bells of hell out of everyone all night long. It was great seeing a mini Boyka role in the Tournament (2009) even if it was about 2 minutes long

Even in the second movie where he is supposed to be a brutal stamp collecting monster you still love him and his kick ass/get schit done attitude. Don’t get me wrong, George Chambers (Michael Jai White) was a great guy, helping out all those poor people and cripples but Boyka stole the show. So much so that the third movie was about HIM!

Basically Scott Adkins could play the Boyka character forever and we would still love him, imagine where this could go? Undisputed 8 Boyka the father, Boyka saves the world!? Boyka VS Mothra!! Why the hell don’t I have a Boyka T-Shirt!? I need action dolls and bed spreads and I think small children all over the world need to stop being so deluded that kindness will get them everywhere and take stab at being the most complete fighter in the world.

LAST NIGHTS MOVIES

 CLASS OF 1999
(Science Fiction, Horror, Action 1990) D/W : Mark Lester W: C.Courtney Joyner 1h 39m.

TAGLINE: The ultimate teaching machine… out of control.
Robot teachers have been secretly placed in the schools where the students have run riot.

With a stunning cast and believable story line it’s easy to see why this movie is a cult classic. How many people wanted to sneak back into school and blow their teachers away!? This film justifies that dream.

QLike I trust a vampire to give me a blow jobOST: NINE inch nails – Head like a hole. Midge Ireland – Come the day.
9/10

Then came…

GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS 2
(Sport, Crime, Drama 2010) D: Jesse V Johnson W: Jay Obrien – 1h 34m.

TAGLINE: Fight for Respect!

Following the deadly climax of Green Street Hooligans” several member of the West Ham firm and numerous members of Millwall end up in jail…
So technically this a prison revenge movie fuelled by football hooligans, it should be gritty and violent, sadly it’s a slow paced movie but there is a lot of smacking about and blood. There is a good dose of dodgy prison guards because we all know they are all bent and a surprise cameo by Matthias Hues and Timothy Murphy. It’s a pale comparison to the first movie but it’s OK. I was gagging for it to end but did enjoy all the double dealing.

News for March

I’ve been a bit slack lately, but still watching a huge variety of movies. Sadly my favourite second hand shop will be closing this weekend so I’ll be needed to catch up with the those guys and see what bargains I can buy. In the meantime I’ve still ploughing through Lo Fi Sci Fi movies, Disturbing top 50, Icelandic history of movies, the odd spaghetti western and Scandinavian horror.

Updated the Lo Fi Sci Fi list.
