February 2018 News and Updates

I’m slowly working towards a proper schedule of movie reviews that doesn’t put too much pressure on me to keep up with and allowing me to write more exciting things…

Here are some films  I will be aiming to watch at some point in the future…

March 2017 News

Holy cow I can’t believe it’s the end of the month and I’ve not posted a news article yet! GOOO ME.

A big month for the Irish, and I shall be attempting something a little special for St Patrick’s day, rather than another alternative Valentine’s day list. ← yeah this didn’t happen so it’s on the back burner but it will come, just be patient my lovelies Continue reading March 2017 News

January 2017 News – Here we go again…

chaser-title

So what to expect for this year.. I really can’t answer that right now, but hopefully plenty more bizarre posts and tragic reviews, thanks to everyone who held out this year gone, I tried to keep the blog fresh with new posts but I got sick around October and I’ve been in and out of hospital since then. In fact I’m going back in at the end of this week but I have queued a few things. More updates will be on the way, I hope they are positive, in the meantime I have a question..

What do you think of when someone  mentions “British Cinema”? Which era and films come to mind first? Which actors and directors step out?

Another epic anime transformed into real people for the big screen, do these ever work? I really enjoyed parts of Attack on Titan (2015) but it got a bit preachy…

Film projects

Eli Roth is directing Bruce  Willis in a new Death Wish remake… WTF?? More details here http://ihorror.com/eli-roth-directing-bruce-willis-death-wish-remake/

The Shape of Water is going to be get a movie remake, directed by Del Toro, probably the best director for a project like this but dude, where’s Pinocchio. The original author Andrew camilleri, penned the novel La Forma Dell’acqua that finally say daylight in 1994, and eventually got translated into English by 2002, and is the first novel of the Inspector Montalbano series. Del Toro has a habit of starting a series and not finishing it off *cough* Hell Boy *cough* Pacific Rim, so if this series is to be completed I’d imagine he won’t be making them all, but the book plays out like a sort of Dan Brown’s novel but less Illuminati and more social/political

Ridley Scott making shit up as he goes along??  Short answer, probably! I think prometheus was supposed to be the missing link but it raised more questions than it answered soooooo sequels and more cash who would avoid that?!
Original story https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/jun/22/ridley-scott-alien-covenant-reboot-script-filming-troubles

More details on the Bye Bye man, get up to date on the story behind the film from the author of the original book at the Paranormal Podcast. It’s another story I feel will be dumbed down by hollywood’s fascination to regurgitate the same schit in the films.. got my fingers crossed that this had a unique look and feel. Doug Jones can be a creepy fucker though but considering this should be played by an albino.. it would be nice to have a real albino play this role.. gerrr I think I will try and get hold of this bookie to get real thrills and chills. Another fairly busy month with a ton of links added to the site.. Finally!

Strange Breed @strangebred666 – an ultra-violent film from Australia with Werewolves also FB page, see twitter for details.

Investigation 13 @i13_Movie a group of college science students look into a deadly urban legend.

The Bye Bye Man – an upcoming american supernatural horror film directed by Stacy Title and written by Jonathan Penner, based on a short story called The Bridge to Body Island by Robert Damon Schneck and will star Doug Jones. Three college students move into an old off campus house, where they find themselves hunted by a supernatural entity called The Bye Bye Man (Jones) who may be responsible for possessing various people and causing them to commit killing sprees throughout recent history..
A bit Creepypastaish but might just work.

Film News

underworld next generationUnderworld : Next  Generation – It seems the new Underworld film is underway Underworld Next Generation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underworld: Next Generation

undisputed 4Undisputed 4 –has finally started releasing pictures and it’s looking impressive, it’s strange but the first news I had of the completion came from a bodybuilding YouTube channel, one of the massive guys was being interviewed and mentioned that he had just finished filming for Undisputed 4, I almost wept. I will be bouncing around in the cinema queue to see this.

Nina Simone Upcoming Movie – So much controversy about the upcoming Nina Simone movie as no one, including ??? believes she’s right for the part. But while this is big news and is impacting on a lot of people who agree, the film will still go ahead, and people will still go and watch it.. and so the Hollywood machine keeps on rolling. It does raise a lot of questions about who is really the best person to act in a biopic???? how much freedom do we give as “the Audience”.. to be honest, not a lot. Only last month i was quite disappointed by the Life (2015) film not only because the film was bland but I thought it could have been massively improved if James Dean actually looked like James Dean, but would the film have been better if the lead was given to an impersonator or lookalike? I feel an article coming on… But to be honest I don’t fully understand the fuss, although my choice would be Viola Davis .

BARBARELLA-2Barbarella – It looks like there is going to be a remake of one of my all time favourite films, Barbarella!! Oh man when will they leave things alone?!? It’s not something I’m ever going to rush out to see, but I do wonder what the figures would look like on new releases if all of the remakes were not counted.

Movie Reviews /Quick Flick Reviews –  I think I have the hang of these mini reviews now, although I did miss a couple of days this month I’ve done well in posting (nearly) everyday.

November 2015 News

Sadly the whole 31 days of horror went to pot after starting out so well, I will still continue with the list throughout November but due to health problems and the Rugby World Cup I’m really sorry I kinda copped out. The list as it stands today is here and I’ve not got a huge amount to do but I’m doing it.. After all it’s Halloween every day in my house.

I’ve got nothing much lined up for November, I’ll be penning some ideas for two epic lists detailing Selected movies of 2015 and Selected movies discovered in 2015.

Hopefully some more regular updates from now on… hopefully.. I will also be changing the look and feel of the blog, oh and I shall be adding a banner, I’ll bring that baby back!

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween, did anyone find any creepy movies!?? Please let me know.
